Working on getting ripped abs. Am I doing enough? Intended for experienced trainers please?

Question by Chris K: Working on getting ripped abs. Am I doing enough? Intended for experienced trainers please?
Here’s a quick run down about me and my situation. I’m 6’2 and 213 pounds, but for some reason I look a lot skinnier than my weight. I’m working on gaining muscle mass because I can still strengthen and fill my body figure a lot, so I’m eating heavily. I lift weights primarily three to four days a week, completing each workout with abs. I’d compare the intensity of my ab workouts to the ab ripper x of P90x (350 different ab/core sit-ups within 20-25 minutes). I run two days a week playing full court high paced basketball as my cardio, probably equaling 5-7 miles a week.

I’m sure the actual ab exercises I’m doing are effective enough, but I’m afraid that eating as much as I am is keeping me from losing unwanted fat in my stomach area which would otherwise help my abs show more. My questions are:

1) Am I getting enough cardio in order to get the kind of abs I’m looking for? If not, how much should I be running?
2) Should I be okay if I just watch the amount of fat content I’m taking in? Or, is it just going to be a hard and long process to lose lower stomach fat consuming as much calories as I do?

Your going to need to bring your body fat% lower to bring out your abs. Your going to need to get it lower than 10% to get that ripped look. If your main goal is seeing your abs then your going to have to eat a calorie deficit, do cardio 5 times a week and do your weights 3 times a week. But if your main goal is muscle mass then you are going to be gaining some fat with your muscle unless your diet is 100% 7 days a week. Try not to gain more than 1lb per week to keep fat gain to a minimum. A good ratio for your carbs, fat, Bank Routing Number Red Rock Community Bank protein is 40%,30%,30% respectively or 50%,25%,25%.
