Here&#8217;s the deal. I want to develop strong and ripped muscles, better than before. BUT I also want to shed off some of my belly fat so that I can develop abs as well. Abs that can easily be revealed. My plan is to jog during my rest day to burn my belly fat. But will I get weak? Or will my muscles have fewer recovery time? Please advice me on what is best. Thanks to any of your answers.</p>

<p><i>Answer by Yellowspotlight89</i><br/>If you&#8217;re going to do strength training, you NEED to pair that with cardio to even become ripped. It&#8217;s a must, actually. or else you&#8217;ll just have muscles swimming under flab. So you&#8217;re doing the right thing. Give your muscles a rest from lifting for 24-48 hours, but the cardio can be continuous. Good luck!</p>

So staring out I&#8217;m only doing 3 sets of pushups, as many as I can do with 60seconds rest in between sets, and 2 sets of crunches, as many as I can do 60seconds rest between per night, as i want to tone my arms and torso for now.</p>
<p>For best results should I continue this every day, or like every other day?</p>
<p>Any other tips to getting a decently-ripped tone would be appreciated.</p>
<p>[Fyi i'm 5'8'' and only wiegh about 125 pounds, so no fat needed to lose and I already have some abs kind of peaking through. I feel I have a good bodytype for this.]<br />
Oh and this isnt the only exercise im going to do, this is just my scheduel plan, I may mix it up on days such as lift some weights, wear out the punching bag, etc.</p>
<p>I just want input on this plan as far as fastest/best results<br />
*Well when I mentioned adding additional mix-it-up exercises i wasn&#8217;t talking on an extreme level, was moreso just a littlebit here and there, and i would realize pushing myself to the limit would require some recovery time, but speaking in terms of just the pushups/crunches im wondering if rest-days are necessary.</p>

<p><i>Answer by amemahoney</i><br/>It&#8217;s really impossible to give you any advice if you don&#8217;t tell us the whole plan or what other exercises you are doing. If you were only doing push-ups and crunches, you could do them pretty much every day with no problem &#8211; we did this in Basic Training, and lots of people got great results. </p>
<p>However, once you start adding other exercises, especially with weights (as opposed to weigh-bearing exercises), then you really need to give your muscles a day or two to rest between each workout, depending on the amount lifted and the intensity.</p>
<p>To get ripped, you have to lift heavy with low reps (just doing lots of reps with low weight isn&#8217;t going to get you anywhere &#8211; I see women make this mistake all the time with their 3-pound dumbells &#8211; really, what&#8217;s the point?). Lifting heavy means at least one to two days between workouts on any particular muscle group, as well as low cardio. You might want to check out Muscle and Fitness magazine. I like their plans a lot and use them even more than the Women&#8217;s Oxygen fitness mag (also produced by Robert Kennedy).</p>
<p>In order to get a &#8220;decently-ripped tone,&#8221; you are going to have to do more than just &#8220;mix it up a little here and there.&#8221; At 5&#8242; 8&#8243; you could easily add 20-30 pounds of muscle, although 10 pounds would probably be a great goal for you. Ive done some research and asked my friends.  I found that obviously there are millions of ways to workout and if the proper workout isn&#8217;t done then the body doesn&#8217;t look good or isn&#8217;t healthy.  (Beer gut for example, not working out important parts, too much working out on 1 part, etc..).</p>
<p>I was wondering if the workout I do is lacking anything or isn&#8217;t balanced right.  I don&#8217;t want to be ripped so the workout isn&#8217;t too intense.  Just want nice build with abs showing.  </p>
<p>Usually I workout 3 times a day focusing on one part: upper body, core/abs, legs.  My warm up is stretching and sometimes jogging.  On other days I do sports like tennis, and kendo( Japanese fencing, works forearms and cardio)</p>
<p>Workouts (not including warmups) usually last 1 hour<br />
For upper body:<br />
30 reps staggerd push up<br />
2 sets 5 rep bench press<br />
10 rep pull up<br />
10 rep wide positioned push up<br />
10 rep triangle positioned under chest push up<br />
10 rep (that ultimate push up toy)<br />
20 rep dips<br />
30 reps of tricep/bicep workout /w bands</p>
<p>Core:<br />
20 rep lemon squeezes<br />
20 rep russian twist<br />
20 rep sit ups<br />
20 rep bicycles<br />
15 rep vertical crunch<br />
60sec plank<br />
20 ab roller<br />
10 leg extended long arm crunch</p>
<p>Do twice, rest 5 sec in between and 1 min between total workout.</p>
<p>Legs:</p>
<p>30 rep prison squats<br />
30 jump alternating lunge<br />
20 rep lunges<br />
30 rep burpee<br />
calf workout<br />
leg stretching<br />
Ah, forgot to add:<br />
I&#8217;m 20, 5&#8243; 8&#8242;<br />
I weigh 146lbs<br />
And Im pretty skinny</p>

<p><i>Answer by Vincent</i><br/>Patience is a virtue.  If you only want things FAST, your impatience is going to make you frustrated and you will quit.</p>
<p>Technically, everyone has a six pack.  That&#8217;s the way the muscle is naturally shaped, look in an anatomy book.  The only problem is, most people have a layer of fat covering it.  &#8220;6&#8217;0&#8221; tall. Around 140 lbs.&#8221;  That being said, you really shouldn&#8217;t lose weight.  Why?  Because you are already a walking twig.  Even if you did lose fat to reveal the six pack that you naturally have, it wouldn&#8217;t really be worth it.  No part of your body would really be impressive, and your six pack would look out of place.  Concentrate on gaining muscle first, then later you can worry about shedding fat and getting to that six pack.</p>
<p>Below are two programs that are quite amazing.  No, you won&#8217;t become ripped in 3 months, no amount of supplements or workouts will help you there.  But it will get you started on a great path and help increase your strength and build lots of muscle.</p>

I am a 16 year-old swimmer and I&#8217;ve been swimming since I was 4. Most recently I&#8217;ve managed to develop broad shoulders and muscular strength in my arms, back and legs, but never managed to get abs.</p>
<p>Now I feel like it&#8217;s the time to get started so I was wondering whether there was a 1-hour workout out there to get ripped abs. Please no more than 2000m, and do not send me one from the internet because I&#8217;ve read plenty of those and none convince me.</p>
